Welcome to PARIP Explorer, a Semantic Web database of mixed-mode research practices in drama, dance, film and TV. In PARIP Explorer people, places and activities are not discrete, bounded entities with static categories describing them. Instead, they are given meaning through the flow of relationships implicated in complex networks of collaborative activities.
PARIP Explorer provides a creative environment for interactively discovering and describing relationships among disparate research activities. With PARIP Explorer ownership of performance research data remains with the communities. Rather than developing a finite, centralised database PARIP has created open-source Web tools to allow anyone to create their own PARIP database - even after the PARIP project ends.
To get the most out of PARIP Explorer, toggle between the Text and Map views with the tabs at the top of the page. The Text view provides lists of information while the Map view lets you see how that information connects.
When in Map View, hover over an icon to see how you can expand it. You can clarify the map by dragging icons around. Do this by hovering over an icon, click and hold, then drag the icon. Holding down shift while dragging will move connected icons.
